Check before you buy

Choose a compatible processor

01

Match the socket and BIOS

A matching socket alone is not a compatibility guarantee. Check the motherboard maker’s CPU support list and required BIOS version for the exact processor.

02

Compare the complete platform cost

Include the motherboard, compatible RAM and cooling when comparing upgrades. Intel and AMD platforms can require different memory generations and power delivery.

03

Check tray, boxed and used offers

Tray does not automatically mean used. Confirm condition, cooler inclusion, local warranty and whether the advertised price is for a standalone CPU or a full build.

04

Check graphics and cooling

Do not assume every CPU has integrated graphics. Confirm whether a separate graphics card is required and choose compatible cooling for the processor’s specifications.

Common questions

Can I upgrade my laptop processor?

Many laptop processors are soldered and cannot be replaced as a normal upgrade. These prices focus on standalone desktop CPUs; consult the laptop service manual for your exact model.

Is a Core i7 always better than a Core i5?

No. Generation, exact model, core configuration, power limits and workload all matter. Compare the full CPU name rather than only the i5 or i7 label.

Does the listed CPU price include a cooler?

Not necessarily. Boxed and tray packages differ, and some boxed CPUs also omit a cooler. Check the seller’s exact package and warranty details.
